ezpad vs cement vs 6x6
« on: October 04, 2004, 05:29:35 pm »
I am getting ready to have my new hydropool 738 delivered but I am stuck in a small delma. First I am placing my tub in the back yard, the yard is not completely flat (it's about 4inches lower on one side)  I have gotten a over the phone quote for concrete 980.00 I think this is way too much so I was thinking of going with either 6x6's and leveling them off or the ezpad and leveling the ground off. any suggestions please help.  I also was looking for the ezpad web site but could not find it. thanks for helping

I am aware of one ezpad on a co-workers spa.  So far it's gone thru 2 Minnesota winters- no heaving or off level that I'm aware of, and the pad itself is in good shape.  I believe that the sub base under the pad is sand and or gravel.

I dug in 6x6's to level as a frame and also used additional 6x6's to catch the leveling points on my spa.  I then backfilled the spa area as well as a patio around it with gravel.  Worked great and was inexpensive.  In the spring I may put a wood over the gravel.

Just put our Optima on the EZ-Pad this Saturday.  I got the one with the beveled edge.  Only time will tell but so far so good.  I used about 3" of  3/4" road base followed by an 1" of sand.  Still laying the pavers around it.

Pats:

Why didn't you put the spa on the pavers as well?
