Scumballs and Scumbugs-Do they work?

Wondering what the concensus here was. Are they worth it? Is it a good idea? I've been dealing with mild scum line in my Vista. No huge deal. I've seen in other threads that some people use Doc's tub rub. Is this a better bet?

Warkie,
I don't know about the scum floaters but I do like the tub rub very much and recommend it highly.

Yes, the products Scumballs and Scumbugs do work.

I bought some from Doc, and you will be amazed how dirty they really get!

They all have one thing in common: Polypropylene. It is a polymer that absorbs oil but not water. Sort of like the way my brother-in-law absorb my money but not other relative's money.

Anyway, my point is that they all work pretty much the same.

My first scum bug lasted about a year and a half.  I rinse it out on a weekly basis.

I think as Chas stated they are all about the same.  I think I read somewhere that it will get ratty looking and that is when they should get replaced.

My dealer said that the one I got with my spa will sink when it dies.
