2014 Bullfrog R6 - price check - 3700 ?
« on: June 24, 2020, 01:04:35 am »
Hello to all! I am wondering if a 2014 r6 is worth 3700. Its in really good shape, currently running. How fair of a deal is this? Ill add its got 4 of those seat packs in it as well as the ozone feature, and is running with bromine.

From a private party.. oh almost forgot! How many people can you comfortably put in this tub? It sais its a 6 seater but i find conflicting reviews for exactly how "comfortable" it is. Id like a tub which can hold 5 or 6 people with out having to feel crowded!

Thanks everyone!

It should only have 3 jetpaks in it.  It fits about 4 adults comfortably.  Yes it's worth that price.

I don't know what a new one goes for (or whatever is most similar) but as a 6 year old spa I would estimate it should sell for about 20-35% (the better shape its in, the higher %) of what an equivalent new one would sell.

On the surface $3700 seems high to me but again, I can't say what an equivalent goes for, I haven't seen how well it operates/looks, I don't know if its going to need a new cover now/soon or anything else, I don't know what area we're talking about (San Jose used spas sell for more than those in little Rock), I don't know...

There won't be mold behind the jetpaks.  That problem was solved many many years ago.  Competitors love to bring it up but it simply does not happen anymore.

Except this is a 6 year old used spa so was it an issue in the 2014 model year? If so is there a retrofit fix?

No, it was not an issue in 2014

Does many many mean 6?

12 years ago, I believe, they introduced the flow piece behind the pack.  And honestly, it was only an issue for people who did not properly maintain their hot tub.  I just saw a 2006 model with no funk behind the jetpaks.  It has been maintained properly.  I find it hilarious that people want to ding Bullfrog for something caused by failure to maintain water chemistry.

I partially agree but we all know a certain amount of poor maintenance by customers will never go away whether its chems, filter cleaning... Whether they had an inkling at launch or not we don't know but in the end Bullfrog had a design that required more upkeep than many customers were willing to provide (shocking eh?) so they simply figured out a way to redesign the issue out, good for them. Proofing out the design up front is the answer but manufacturers aren't going to necessarily provide the time and money to R&D every issue out of their design ahead of time like NASA.
