Recently obtained 1995 Hot Spring Landmark (SN: S 15-1046) for pennies. Always stored inside, hardly used. Great shape. Had techs look over before we moved it to our house. They said everything but light works; however until it’s run for a while can’t guarantee. No worries. It’s all hooked up and working - Jets and pumps seem fine. No leaks anywhere. Found original manual online with supplemental for my model. Followed startup instructions. Waited about 8 hrs and tested water. Hot!!!! Then an hour later Hi Temp tripped. Reset and turned dial from 5 to 1. Didn’t cool. Tripped again. I tested thermistors Ohms and found Control one was bad. Replaced. (I bought both Thermistors to be safe). Kept dial at 1 to bring up gradually. Hi temp tripped again. Turned temp off. Replaced Hi-Temp Thermistor just in case. Turned temp dial down below 1. Waited an hour and temp at 104-105. (Measured with body thermostat). I know it takes a few hours for temp to decline. However with the dial so low, it shouldn’t be getting beyond 100 degrees. If I check in a few hours and it’s still at 104, I’m thinking calibrate thermostat, heating element calcified or control knob is bad. (I’ll check Ohm reading again too against temp). Thoughts?
Update 1 (1:45 Eastern): Ran Jets for 17 minutes, temp dropped 1 degree; dial still below 1. I’ll continue to test throughout the day and see if temp continues to drop. Then slowly increase dial after a few days.)
Update 2 (3:25 pm Eastern: Temp now down to 103 but the Hi-Temp switch kicked in. Reset.
Update 3 (6:45 PM Eastern): Temp checked each hour since last update. Temp 102 and holding since 5:30. I don’t see water circulating even a little. Bad circulation pump possibly. Has not tripped again.
Update 4 9:45 AM: Went out to last night eat came back and at at 9:30. Temp 102. Solid light no trip. Dial still below 1. Enjoyed some time in. Checked this morning and light still solid. Tub didn’t not trip. I didn’t test temp with thermometer but it felt same. Good news is no reset.
