One thing leads to another

For those of you who lived through the 80s,  the old FIXX song is so true for me ;D ::) :P

(1) look for the BEST spa for us
(2) realize there is electrical hookup and foundation concerns
(3) get bids for electrical
(4) get bids for foundation
(5) realize that foundation must connect to the bedroom door
(6) realize the bedroom door connects to the rest of the backyard
(7) get bids on new stone patio and steps to hot tub area
(8 get bids on new fence
(9) realize we didn't settle on make of hot tub
(10) arrange financing for project
(11) go crazy with all subcontractors' bids
(12) wish all i had to do was jump in the tub (EVERY NIGHT and MORNING)

I know when it is all said and done (from all your posts) it will be worth the planning.  I will upload the before pictures to give you some insight to our little dilemma.

THANKS for all your suggestions along the way ;) ;) ;) :D ;D 8)

Nicely put Sol!  So true and I thank you for the chuckle.  My tub was purchased 6/26 (our aniversary) and delivered 8/4.  The first weekend was great and then I agonized over each of those points for the next month!  (actually still agonizing over #8/the fence as I'm doing that one myself - almost done.)

Great job with the list, very accurate!  (and sooo worth it)

So so true Sol.

I am in the middle of electric installation ($$$), patio/walkway/landscaping project ($$$) and the spa ($$$) will be here next Monday or Tuesday!

Not to mention, the new towels, robes, plastic martini, wine glasses and  drink glasses, new copper firepit, new patio chairs and tables, all $$$$$$$.

mo' money, mo' money, mo' money.

And I thought owning boats for 19 years was expensive!

The electric bill is the least of my concerns! I'm hoping it will only go up $30-40 month.  I can live with that one.

Unless you regularly either throw dry ice in your tub or live in a place where electricity is hand-carried to your house by trained monkeys, I would doubt that your Vista would cost $40 a month to operate.

As for the stress and wishing you had a hot tub, when things get very stressful, grab a bathing suit, head to a dealer, and request a "wet test".   ;D

I've found trained monkeys for hire that will gather wood and continually stoke a fire to keep my tub at 104 and they only charge a bunch of bananas and an hour viewing of the recorded republican/democrat convension a day. Let me know if you're interested.

So am I in the ball park of $20-$30 a month without the monkeys?  Bananas aren't cheap!

After all the expenses of the Tub, electrical, patio, landscaping etc.  I ripped open my thumb while modifying my deck to make tub access easier.  As a result, tub access is a lot more difficult for me (at least in the near term) :'(

When I read this title I was thinking a different math...

deck+beer+hottub = wife - bathing suit =  ;D

Not good Tony.  I am going to have to be careful as that part of the project is on my list and will be done next week.

Actually....

I am contemplating how much of the work I want to do myself ::)

It just may enable me (my wife says OK) to buy some additional tools ;D

The tough part is fine tuning the PLAN ???
