How to remotely turn on a hottub?
« on: December 20, 2019, 12:51:25 am »
I have a 110V Hotsprings hottub that I would like to plug into
a smart plug.  It is in a vacation house and I would like to remotely
turn it on the day before we arrive.

Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks

Insteon has a 20 amp smart plug. Can plug into your outlet and the tub plugs into it. Of course you will need the Insteon app for your phone, tablet, pc whichever. Free. But the outlet is overpriced.

There's tons of smart plugs out there.  Google!

Hope you find one with the info I gave you in PM. I worry that by remotely turning it on it will come on in de-fault mode and may not heat all the way to the desired temp?

By doing this I would think your water would be a mess. They are meant to be run all the time

I thought the same thing. When you leave turn it down to 95f and when you return crank it up to 104f it will only take a few hours and it’s the simplest solution. You need to feed it chlorine while you are gone I would suggest maybe try bromine in a floater. It should have a setting where it circulates water a couple times a day.
