Vanishing Act alternatives?

Does anyone know of an alternative to "Vanishing Act".   These seem pretty pricy and must be a simple chemical marked way up.

Trisodium Phosphate, Salt, something similar that will accomplish the same, without harm to the spa or the wallet.

you could fill the spa with a portable water softener like this: https://www.amazon.com/Go-OTG3NTP3M-Portable-Water-Softener/dp/B001FCE0MQ/ref=asc_df_B001FCE0MQ/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=198094140475&hvpos=1o3&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15205251345851735836&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9019496&hvtargid=pla-319108385402&psc=1

much cheaper than buying 2-3 of those bags (1 was never enough when I was selling them) with these portable water softeners you just re-charge it yourself with traditional salt, pretty easy
