We are not quite sure what this British celebration entails, but we were delighted that our English friends have included us in their  observation of Boxing Day today.  Hope you enjoy Boxing Day as well, Guzz!

If I am not mistaken it a history of England's top boxers and world champions. It is a 24 hour salute on ESPN how ever due to the lack footage and champions its about 18 minutes of boxing followed by the best brawls from the soccer stands..

Thanks Bonibelle, I have been enjoying Boxing day at home with my family,what is boxing day...The holiday's roots can be traced to Britain, where Boxing Day is also known as St. Stephen's Day. Reduced to the simplest essence, its origins are found in a long-ago practice of giving cash or durable goods to those of the lower classes. Gifts among equals were exchanged on or before Christmas Day, but beneficences to those less fortunate were bestowed the day after. Church boxes were emptied and disributed to the poor.

Thanks Guzz. The invited guests at this party were curious as to the origion of Boxing Day and we found out that, as you say, it was a time for sharing with the lower class. Our host said that is why he invited all of us...We all had a good laugh. And enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of great food and drink. Oh, and a sort of bread pudding cake with lots of fruit that had been baked for hours and saturated with alcohol and set on fire....the kids were amazed because it was so well saturated that it wouldn't go out! We all had a great time.
