CYA range to start bleach method

What's the CYA range to start the bleach method? I creeped up to around 45 and wondering if I should attempt.

I usually get the cya to 40 myself before starting bleach.  Make sure your ta is 50 and pH 7.8. I have been using this for 2 years now and always have clear water.

I'm sure others will chime in.

Why TA 50? I'm right at 80.

Gotcha. Is there a rule of thumb for bleach after each use? Dichlor was 2tsp pp for a normal soak. I bought the 8.25% from Costco.

I experimented by checking before and after adding the bleach and found a small plastic cup that came with the laundry soap was the right amount for mine. I never measured how much it holds but most nights give it one if we had guests and heavy usage I’ll give it two.  Won’t take you long to dial it in.

Okay thanks. I'm seeing a lot of discussion around adding Borates to stabilize pH. Is this necessary? I was trying to avoid having muriatic acid around and it looks like it necessary if you start messing with Borates.
