Vanishing Chlorine??? Cloudy

Hi Everybody,
Well, I'm two weeks into having the tub and I cannot seem to get a trace of chlorine to last.
It's been getting VERY HEAVY use (2-3 nights of 5-6 people (family visits
), and 2 people on the other nights).
I've been adding Leisure Time Spa 56 everytime people exit and shocking regularly. However, it seems each time I go down to test the water, there is no chlorine present.
Finally, in searching the board on cloudy water posts (a small problem as well), I saw Chas recommend trying 2 tablespoons of dichlor. I did this on Monday night and things were looking good. Then, I go out today, test the water, and again there's NO TRACE!!! Am I crazy, or do I really need to be adding that much all the time? Ph (after Spa Down) and Alk are testing fine.
Any suggestions? Would the lack of chlorine also be leading to some cloudiness?
Thanks as always!

As far as I know Chlorine dissipates over time. You don't want to be sitting in a tub full of chlorine. My very simple understanding is:
1) Stuff grows.
2) Add chlorine to shock. Stuff dies.
3) Run pumps. Dead stuff gets stuck in filter. Water clears.
4) Chlorine dissipates. Go back to Step 1.
On our grandee we drop a tablespoon of MPS (non-chlorine shock) 10 minutes before we get in and then shock once a week. Each time if we use a test strip before the MPS it shows a lack of chlorine/MPS. That should be normal, at least according to our dealer.

It's the naughty word filter at work. It doesn't like the p*o*o*n part of the word, so it fills in "thingy".

Thx for solving the mystery of tablesthingey! When I would read that in people's writing, I thought that was a regional term from where they might be living! I would always think to myself its easier to type table s p o o n rather than tablesthingey!

Btw, when I finish tub use at night, we add 3tsp dichlor. In AM, about 8-10hr later, my chlorine will measure like 0.5. If I shock with 3TBL dichlor, that takes about 16hrs to drop below 3ppm. Not sure if that helps, but I do think its quite normal not to have a high measureable amount of chlorine unless you've added it recently.

stl: I thought with a Nature2 and ozone, your chlorine should be hover around 0.5-1

Go to Roberts Hot tubs and look up Vermonter's and Northman's posts, they're probably the best insight into Chlorine usage. It's owned by Dr. Spa a major contributor on these boards. Good Luck.
