Sanitizer demand test
« on: August 21, 2016, 02:20:23 pm »
Hi all -- I'd like to know if those with established spas or even new onew:  would you be willing to perform a sanitizer demand test and report the results here? I'm especially interested in a discussion around either chlorine or bromine spas, with or without ozone.

Should be a fun experiment.  the only requirement is that you have an accurate sanitizer test such as a Taylor drop test (the test strips aren't accurate enough).  The idea is to

1.  choose a time without bather load, such as 24 hours after the last soak
2.  remove all automatic delivery systems (such as bromine tabs) and turn ozone OFF (if you can.  if not just report that)
3.  raise the Br or Cl sanitizer level to some number like 10ppm bromine or 5ppm chlorine.
4.  wait 24 hours
5.  measure again

Last measurement I did (bromine spa with ozone) I raised to 10ppm bromine and 24 hours later measured 9ppm. anyone else?
