Taking a vacation
« on: December 12, 2015, 11:22:41 pm »
I'm leaving my hot tub for about 14 days.  I have a Caldera Spas Vanto.  I keep her at 104 when I'm home.  Predicted temperatures while I'm away are highs between 30 and 42 and lows between 17 and 26.

Was thinking of lowering the temperature, but I wanted to ask, first.

How about chemistry?  Should I simply give it a strong dose of chlorine or shock before I leave?  I have someone watching the house while I'm away - would it be best if I asked her to treat it while I am away?

Thanks!

You could lower the temps but it really wouldn't matter for sanitary reasons. If you can get the person to look at the tub then I would have them put in chlorine once or twice while you are gone. I would make it simple - pre measure the chlorine and just have them dump it into the tub.

I have left my tub for about 10 days and did just shock it before I left  and after I came home with no issues.
