Best 3-4 person Hot Tub Between $4,000 - $5,000
« on: August 06, 2015, 04:50:46 pm »
Hi, I'm in the Charlotte, NC area and trying to see what people suggest for a good 3-4 person hot tub less than $5,000.  Something less than 34 inches tall (porch door width becomes an issue).  Really going to be used by 2 people at the most, but I'm pretty tall so I don't want one of those tiny little 2-person tubs.

Any suggestions on decent brands I should target?  I appreciate the help.

Do my options go up quite a bit if I bump the budget to $6,000?

It would be on the high end of your budget, but take a look at the Marquis Spirit.  Ours was right around $6K as a floor model, and it's a top tier quality tub.   It would be great for a taller person as one of the seats is deep.

I'm not sure on the height dimensions though, it might be taller than 34".

The Marquis Spirit is an awesome tub but it's 35" tall, probably won't fit. And most dealers sell it for in the $8000+ range, if someone got it for $6000 that is a steal.

I would suggest the Marquis Celebrity Series Broadway, if you can fit 34" tub, or the Marquis E-series 425, which is the same size but only 29.5" tall.  Both models will probably be pushing your budget a little bit, but will hopefully come close. Here are some links:

It looks like the closest dealer to you is 40 miles away in Hickory, NC:

a LOT of people set a budget first and then see what is out there and that doesn't always work. You're very limited at 5k; less so at 6k but its still a tight window. I know you may have a firm budget in mind but I'd suggest you put that aside temporarily and see what is out there. You really want something built to last so see who is around you that makes a good spa(Caldera, D1, Hot spring, Jacuzzi, Sundance, Arctic, Bullfrog, Marquis...) and get a good idea of what you can get and at what price before you set a firm budget. In some cases you're better off delaying purchase and socking away $XXX/month and revisiting the purchase when your budget better matches what you want/need.

Check out Nordic Hot Tubs.  They have a few dealers in your area.
Their Retreat model is a very popular one.

I would recommend checking out Lifecast models, I have a Rocksport premium and it is 32 or so inches tall.

I had the same budget as yours and found after visiting dealers in my area that they didn't have much to offer in that price range. I think you'll find that you're not as limited with a $5,000 budget as you think, you just have to know where to look. After doing research online i stumbled across the lifecasts models, they are made in the U.S. and delivered straight from the factory...which is nice because you don't have to worry about it being damaged sitting in a warehouse.

happy hot tub hunting  :)

I've found Nordic models in your range and the Bullfrog R5 or R5L.  At 6K you can get the A series Bullfrogs which have more features and a 3rd jetpack.

A series for 6k is not a realistic number unless there is a dealer out there who is in business to NOT make money

Hmmm...2 dealers here are running specials now on the A5L at 6500 with stairs, cover, starter chemicals and delivery as well as $500 in options from Bullfrog.  They both told me they'd do $6000 if I didn't want the $500 in options on the A5L.  This was not a negotiated selling price...it's their currently advertised pricing.  When you consider what cost is on these it's still a good deal for everyone involved.

That's a ridiculous price for that spa.  Most people pay darn near that much for the lower tier R5L.

That's good news for us I guess!  The R series was quite a bit less expensive, but we wanted the extra jetpack.

We just bought an E-series 425 for $4800. (Listed at 6,999 at the dealer we worked with.)
Includes ozone installed.

It was a demo.
Someone had returned it within a 30 day trial period.

Same warranty as other e-series. Which is less than their higher end tubs.

Somebody elses butt has been in it.

========

Take a look at demo's.
Might get you into decent spa.

We like that Marquis is employee owned and in-state.
