possible purchase of a used marquis euphoria
« on: August 06, 2015, 10:36:03 am »
We are considering purchasing a 2005 marquis euphoria from a pool/spa place in our town.  The asking price is 2,800.00 which includes set up and starting chemicals.  We have to pay 225.00 to have the spa placed on our deck by a crane (the store does not have enough personnel to carry the pool up the 4 steps on our deck).  Does this sound like a good deal ?  Is it typical for a pool place to charge for delivery ?  We are new to spas and appreciate your feedback on the age of the tub, the price, and the delivery charge. Thank you !

Sounds like a good price if everything is working well on it.

My first thought was that's too much for that 10 year spa but if its from a pool and spa dealer that has verified everything is in working order (and hopefully given you maybe a 6 month warranty) then that's fine because you should be able to get a few more good years out of it. If it were from a spa owner I'd hesitate far more at that price.

Its not the dealer's issue that you're putting it up on a deck and therefore need extra delivery attention and $225 for a crane delivery onto your deck is a very good price. You could always ask them to deliver it to your yard for free and move it up yourself but I'd do the wise thing and have them take care of it at that price because if you run into issues you'll hate yourself for not sitting back and having the pros handle it.

Every single dealer charges for delivery. Most though don't itemize it and just add it into the overall cost.
If you can't sell it on eBay, it may not even qualify as landfill.

Retired (mostly) from the industry after 33 years...but still putzing around with a consumer information website, and trying to sell obsolete owners manuals
