Chelsee or 365
« on: June 29, 2015, 10:30:11 am »
Well, I'm back.

We've eliminated Southseas, Bullfrog and Artesian spas.

We like the Sundance Optimas as a 1st choice but it is about $3K more expensive than the Chelsee.  My main concern on the Chelsee is the depth & comfort.  I'm 5'10" and my husband is 6'2" -- I did sit in one (dry) and it felt comfortable from what I could tell.  (My husband doesn't want to test -- the choice has been delegated to me).  My kids did a wet test on the Chelsee and had some comments about the power of the jets and were uncomfortable in a couple of the seats.

The J365 also dry test was comfortable - my local dealer doesn't have one to wet test.  So my main questions are around comfort (room wise) and ability to control the power of the jets.

Please provide your opinion on 365 vs Chelsee (yes  - I've read several threads and it seems like 50/50 one vs the other).
Also, do you think the $3K is worth the difference for the Optima.

Thanks

The J-365 in my opinion has nicer jets, it also has 2 divertor handles vs 1 on the Sundance, so you have more control of the water flow.  Can't go wrong with either but I have sat in both and prefer the Jacuzzi and it's features.

Would you do the wettest?  IMO, its less important for the guys.   My wife, 5'5 floated quite a bit in the J365.  She didn't float in the Sundance Majesta that we now own.

did a wet test on both Optima and Chelsee.
I felt the Chelsee was uncomfortable -even when dialing down the pressure, still felt like I was floating.

The optima was wonderful but $2.5K more

I hope to re-test the J470 and J365.

feedback from you guys is appreciated

Update and a decision will be made by July 3rd:

Sundance is out;  liked the Optima but liked the pricing on the final 3 better:

Artesian Grand Bahama Elite:  91 x 91 x 36"
Artesian Captiva Elite:  84 x 84 x 36"
Jacuzzi 365:  84 x 84 x 38"

The Elite series, I really like, due to the direct flow and ability to control the jets more at each seat.  I've noticed that my kids don't always like the higher power of the pumps.  Although they will eventually move out of the house, I want them to enjoy it, too.

In terms of price, the grand bahama is $12K;  Jacuzzi 365 is $11K and Captiva is $9K  Main concern about the Captiva is the size...  my daughter likes more room but I'm sure 90% of the time, there will only be 4 people.  when we do entertain, though, we would be a little cramped.

any thoughts on these compared to one another?

I'm very comfortable with the dealer and he stands behind the quality of both products.

The J-365 is 91X84 not a huge difference, component wise IE jets, controls and well the rest of the spa are in my opinion  a step or two above the Artesian.   Artesian builds a really nice spa but get up in Artesian's  upper end and it would be more of an even match.    We sold Artesian when they very first came out with the direct flow,  thought it was the coolest thing. We still sold Jacuzzi over them 10 to 1.  In the end get what is comfortable for you!   Like I said Artesian builds a nice spa, bells and whistles are just a given..

Getting a spa that is bigger than you need is less of a problem than getting a spa that is too small!!

Wet test!!
220, 221, whatever it takes!
