J495 60 Amp "logic modification"
« on: July 23, 2014, 10:47:00 pm »
Hi-

I just got a J495 installed and had the electrician wire it in the 60 amp configuration so two pumps and the heater can be running simultaneously. I initially thought all this entailed was running a low-enough gauge cable, with the right breakers, etc., etc. and then the hot tub would automatically be able to use the additional amps. But I am not able to run the two pumps and heater at the same time so was wondering if something else was necessary? the manual mentions a "logic modification" but does anybody know what this entails? Is their perhaps something on the circuit board or otherwise internal to the tub that needs to be set?

I would appreciate any help/advice

Thanks,
Matt

Read the manual or call your dealer, no modification to the circuit board unless its a 2012 to mid 2013. If its the J-1000 controller than it's done through the topside.

 Oh and congrats!

Thanks. When I bought it the dealer said that it was "last year's model" but I know it was made at the factory very recently and shipped out. Out of curiosity do you know what the modification for the older model is?

The electrician must have screwed something up. I'll call him.

The older version would be changed by switching the jumper, the newer would be via the top side.

 Does it look like this?

FWIW this guys price is like a 1000% mark up  ::)

Ok- My Jacuzzi does have the Jacuzzi J1000 controller. Do you know what modification on the topside is necessary?

Thanks

Right now no, I can tell you tomorrow.  You have to push a sequence of btns to get there.

That would be great! I wonder if the sequence is written in the shop/service manual.

Thanks for this.
My dealer was going to do a 3 way call with me and Jacuzzi to change this setting.  He really did try I beleive, as he called me first, put me on hold for a few minutes.  He then said Jacuzzi wants him there to do it instead of 3 way call, etc.  So, since in South Florida, and not too important, I figured no biggie, can wait till dealer is up my way, or if I see it really is of benefit or need.  Now I have the info for future if I need it.  Thanks.

(edit)
oh, and I may wait now that I've had the tub a few months and see that the electric bill went up a lot more than advertised, maybe we can save a few $ by NOT doing this change!

Thanks. I was able to switch it to 60 amps. Probably won't need the heater too much in the 90+ South Carolina weather but come wintertime I'm sure it will be an asset.
