Price Check, Aisle Four Please
« on: June 28, 2004, 11:48:42 am »
I'm looking to buy my first hot tub, and have been grateful to have been able to find this forum to learn as I've narrowed my search.  I'll be wet testing this week, but I've already gotten a couple prices on the 2 tubs that I'm most interested in - Jacuzzi's J-365 and Sweetwater's Bahia.  I liked the Optima but I think it's more than I want to pay for - especially since we're going to be paying for a new deck too!!!  I understand the wet test is where it's at, but when I sat in the Optima dry, I didn't think it was as comfortable as the others?

I've seen several comments on prices recently for the 365, but many of them do not give the exact details on what was included in the price - and that can make a huge difference.  I'm going to try to spell out exacly what I've been quoted and I'm hoping you can tell me what you think.

Jacuzzi J-365
w/ Delivery
Cover
Chemical Starter Kit
Covermate I - Lift
SunZone CD - Ozone
30" Step
6.5% Tax
$7,284.62
Pre-Wet Test Pros: The finishes available, The non-moving parts jets, big seats, Waterfall
Pre-Wet Test Cons:  Waterfall (feel like I'm paying extra - don't need it), More expensive

Sweetwater Bahia
w/ Delivery
Cover
Chemical Starter Kit
Covermate I - Lift
SunZone CD - Ozone
30" Step
Sun Glow LED light (add-on)
Micron Filter (Sundance) Upgrade
Warranty Increase to 5 years
6.5% Tax
$6,542.71
Pre-Wet Test Pros: Less $$$, Ability to get MicroFilter upgrade
Pre-Wet Test Cons: Limited choices on finishes

The prices are from the same local dealer, who is very reputable and have been in business for a long time.  The sales rep is a good one too.

Any comments on the pricing, or suggestions/information would be greatly appreciated.   I would be comfortable with the decision either way so far (wet test to follow).  My totally unbiased opinion of the wet test will follow.

Thanks for the information!
