test strips

I have a Chairman II and use the vision cartridge.  When I use the test strips the chlorine part of the test strip always stays white.  Is this normal or do I need to add something?  Does it matter which filter area the vision cartridge goes in?Very confused and water is green.

You've got no sanitizer in there. If the dealer told you you do not need it they are full of it. There are only 3 FDA approved sanitizers Chlorine, Bromine, and Baqua Spa.

Agreed.

You should have some level of sanitizer, even if it's a low level, or you are at risk.

I would get a good reliable test kit vs those darn strips.  I had the same problem and there was definately sanitizer in there.  I was fed up, went don and got a decent chemical based kit (easy to use) and found I was doing things fine.  Prior to this some here could attest to my level of frustration.

Before you go buy a test kit, add some chlorine! Try about two dry ounces. Run the jets for a couple of minutes, and then try a test. If the color is still white, you have a problem.

I believe I have read somewhere (I think it was you Chas) but can't the chlorine "bleach" the test strip?  Where it would just be white?  If there is a huge quantity (10 ppm or higher) of chlorine, could this be the problem?

I use a test kit for my chlorine.  My test strips only measure MPS, which is ok, but it doesn't tell me how much chlorine I have!

Just a thought!  Maybe I'm way off base!

Definitely add some chlorine. Ozone and Nature2 or vision cartridges alone will not work. this is not the first time I have heard of these issues.  You have to use some sanitizer.  how old are the strips?  old strips or a little bit of moisture can mean improper reading.  Green water is definitely not right.  Del ozone even says a residual of some type of sanitizer

I agree you will want to add some chlorine to bring the sanitized level up.  The pure vision cartridge will go in to the filter that is being used by the circulation pump ( the one without the floating weir)  I would also recommend taking your water into your local dealer and having it tested.  You can compare this test to the test that you do with your test strips.

Yeah, add dichlor. I add some daily, at least 1 tsp and shock once weekly...
