Covers for your Cover

I see some nice looking covers being sold that cover the top and sides of a spa.  Being that my tub is under trees, this looks like it would provide protection to my tub and prevent sap from getting on the top.    Would a cover hurt your spa in any way, if you ensured that any vents were not blocked?

My tub is under a tree too.  Pain in the butt...put a thick quilt on it last year and it's been there ever since...works for me...
