2001 Sundance Altamar $1700 a good deal?
« on: December 10, 2013, 12:47:15 pm »
Hi,
I have the opportunity to buy a 2000 or 2001 Sundance Altamar for $1700, which includes a super thick cover. For $100, the seller will throw in steps and cover lifter. This also includes free delivery.

The seller specializes in refurbishing and reselling hot tubs. He only focuses on the best brands, mainly Sundance and Hot Springs. It's a guy who works out of his 3 car garage/barn and at any one time he'll have a half dozen tubs. This is his full time business. Once he tunes up the tub, he'll run it non stop for a week straight to ensure it is defect free.

I don't have any concerns over the seller, but wanted to confirm if this is a good deal, and how risky is it to be buying a 12 year old tub? I expect some part failures to occur, but what am I really getting into here? I always have the option of waiting for his inventory to turn over and holding out for a newer tub.

Quick thought since the question is out of my leaque,  How thick is super thick?  5"-3".   Can one person lift it using the cover lifter?
