Who has a better job than this?
« on: November 22, 2005, 08:26:44 pm »
I'm serious, I truly LOVE my job!  I sell a high quality, luxury product, I work by myself, I have great customers of whom many have become good friends, and when I get too stressed out (yeah, right), I have a wide selection of these hydrotherapy devices available to me.

I sincerely hope that most of you love going to work everyday.  I haven't always been able to make that claim, but I sure can now!

BTW, I'm posting butt-nekkid at work!  Don't tell the Flim Flam Girly Man or he'll call me a womanizing, gun-toting, alcoholic, nudist slacker or something along those lines.

Thanks for trying, anyway.  Hopefully you'll catch the scumbags before they hurt someone.
There's been a lot of reporting of muggings and robberies in the uptown area of MPLS lately- that's supposed to be the "good" part of the city, crimewise.
And people wonder why I have a carry permit..... ::)

Oh yeah- I also like going to work.  Don't get to play with any toys, but the company I work for is growing, lots of opportunites to advance, excellent salary/benefits package.  Should be getting our year end bonus checks in a couple more weeks.  Life is indeed good.........

Glad to hear you have a carry permit. If more people would take the time to learn to defend themselves we'd have a lot less victims. And probably a lot less criminals.

Huh.  I heard that you spend your days sitting naked in a death trap of tub, drunk out of your mind, propositioning hookers, and when the urge strikes you, you squeeze off a few rounds from you scary man killing homicidal guns.

Occasionaly,  in moments of breif sobreiety, you will fleece little old ladys and take all thier money and sell them one of the worst hot tubs on the market.

It's very sad Term. You see, the first step is to admit you have a problem

"Hi, I'm Terminator, and i'm a drunk gun toting, womanizer thief".

(Everyone in unison) "Hi Terminator!"

Lt. Dan, how do you like the ACOG?  I've been wanting to get an optic for my new Bushmaster and I'm torn between the Trijicon, Aimpoint, or Holosight.  What are the pros and cons on the ACOG?

I've used Aimpoint and the compact ACOG, I like the compact ACOG. No batteries, with the light gathering fibre optic you don't lose the reticle as easily when sighting against an bright background, choice of reticles, durability (it's the one you see on the soldiers M16's).

I have the crosshair reticle with 1.5 power magnification, most of my work is done at room length distance. One of my officers bought a 3 power and it is way too much for close in work. The dot reticle is arguably faster (sight picture) but I like the cross hair reticle option of better precision. I don't like the triangle reticle, my Chief has it, guess I'm just not used to using a triangle as an aiming reference.

The ACOG rides over the iron sights on my A3 version, mounted on the carry handle. If you were to lose operability of the ACOG for any reason, you still have your iron sights.

I have no experience with the Holosight.

Disadvantage to any optics is over reliance and failure to train with iron sights. Always need to plan on the device not working at some point, I'd never use a scope on a tactical weapon (close range, not sniper work) that interfered with or removed iron sights. Primary reason I hate laser sights is I've seen them fail and not sufficiently illuminate against a lighted target and watched officers waving their gun around trying to visually pick up the laser instead of going to iron sights and engaging the target.

Now I'll get off my laser sight soap box.

Thank you Lt. Dan, that is great information.  I like the crosshairs myself.  I have a cheap Bushnell Holosite on my 10-22 with the red dot and I have trouble picking it up sometimes.  Gonna ask Santa for an ACOG this year, I just have to teach her what one is!

Minnesota is chock full of bleeding hearts- it took a long time for the passage of the shall issue permit laws.
Some of these rabid anti's wore flack vests to the state capitol on the day the bill was voted on in the senate.
And they cried about how we were turning back into the old west (I wish), with shootouts in the streets, blood and bullets everywhere, etc..., despite the other 3 dozen states where similar laws have been in affect for years without any problems at all.
The law got rolled back for about a year on a technicality, and was just re instituted a few months ago.
Of course nothing even close to those predictions came to pass.

I think the bleeding heart stronghold lost a lot of power last time around.  Their rabid anti gun rhetoric cost them a lot of votes both in Minnesota, and nationally.  So when the carry law was re passed, only the most vocal metrocrats opposed it.  These people forgot that Minnesota has a long tradition of hunting and gun ownership, and that those people were capable of voting.  And we did.

Yeah right! ;D

It may be different up there, but all we did here was sit in a room for 8 hours and ask the instructors questions.  Most people were asking "If someone is attacking a lady in the park, can I use deadly force?" or "If someone is breaking into my car, can I shoot them?"

A couple of guys had some real interesting hypothetical questions:

"Say you come home early from work, and some homeboy is climbin' out of yo' old ladies bedroom window....can you shoot him?"

Another

"Say you're ridin' around at the lake and one of your homeboys is getting beat up by a bunch of Messicans with clubs...can you shoot them?"

I leaned over to one of them and said "Man, I'd be movin' to a new neighborhood if I was you."  He got a chuckle out of it.

And I don't want to hear any of the Pansy Police calling me a racist.

They can have my gun when they pry it from my cold dead hand. Another Minnesotan telling it like the majority up north here. Both my boys 16 and 17 own there own that they bought with there own money and are fully trained in there operation and function. And the most important thing I taught them was if your going to kill it you have to eat it (I wonder where my neighbor, that I hate has been lately and what was that meat the other day?) It slays me how this states government, which we ellected can even consider some of the tree hugging bills that go through it. Against logging? Try plastic toilet paper!!

Sorry lost it for a minute with no real direction in the post. It's Brewmans fault.
