Horrible Treatment and Warranty Claims from Arctic Spas what to do.
Dr. Spa™ Ret.:
Prorated means as time goes by, less is covered., for example, full 100% coverage for the first 5 years...in years 5 - 10 you pay 50% of the cost.
Ryan VSO:
A prorated warranty will cover only a percentage of the cost of repair or replacement, based on the amount of time or wear left.
For example, if you have a tire that is 55% worn and it develops a bulge from a defect, you would get 45% of the cost of the replacement covered, and would have to pay for the 55% that you already had the use of.
If you had a 5 year warranty on a battery and it needed to be replaced after 2 years, you would pay 40% of the cost, and the warranty would pay 60% . You had the battery for 2 fifths of the 5 year period.
A non prorated warranty will not charge you anything if warranty repairs or replacement is needed.
If the paint job peels, wrinkles, or fades, they will fix it at no charge to you.
This is why you have to ask if its pro-rated or not

Arctic Spas doesn't have pro-rated warranties. The shell surface is warranted for five years. The spa shell has a lifetime warranty. In the OP's case, the tub was being replaced by Arctic Spas for no charge. The arguments were over the freight charges and the charges to remove the equipment from the old spa to the new spa. I can see why the dealer is charging that fee since they didn't sell this spa to this customer, and didn't make one cent off of that purchase. But, at the same time, I can also see the customers frustration with the expenses adding up when they thought it should be covered under warranty. If this were to happen with one of our customers, we would do all of that for no charge, unless a crane would be necessary. At that point, I think the customer would have to understand since most spas delivered are by man power and not by cranes.
I would suggest that the OP try to go in and sit down and talk with the new Arctic dealer to see if you can both agree on a fair price for both parties. I am sorry to the OP that you have had a bad experience.
Ryan VSO:
sorry i though artic was charging 1800 $ for a new shell but its for a brand new tub . Labor related to transfering the equipment from the old shell to the new one is the custumer responsability ?
Water Boy:
No worries. Well, Arctic Spas the manufacture doesn't pay for the transfer of equipment or the freight. That is up to the dealer or the customer. Like I said, I wouldn't have charged this customer for that, but the dealer that sold this customer that spa doesn't sell Arctic Spas any more, so the new dealer that does sell Arctic doesn't think they should have to pay either. Kind of a odd deal all around. The op only posted the one time, so hopefully they have been taken care of by now.
