Guys.

I'm using Bromine in my spa, a combination of floating tabs and granules if i require an instant top up.
Should I be seeing any Free Chlorine on my test strips ?

This weekend i'm showing a Free Chlorine level of 0.
Maybe i'm going crazy in my old age, but i'm sure that my strips where showing some sort of Free Chlorine level, when I checked last weekend, and the weekend before etc.

Test strips measure the oxidation potential of the water. Chlorine, bromine, non-chlorine shock and other things have an oxidation potential. The color chart for reading the results are calibrated for what the strips are designed to test for. So, yes, bromine will give a positive reading on chlorine test strips, HOWEVER, the color chart will not be accurate as to how much bromine is in the water (I believe you have to multiply a chlorine reading by 2.25 to get the accurate reading for bromine).

These are 4 way test strips.

Bromine
Free Chlorine
PH
TA

Bromine, PH and TA are all in the OK bracket.
Free Chlorine is nil value
