Limelight Pulse
« on: August 22, 2013, 09:08:03 pm »
Hi all,

I have a couple questions for the Hot Springs experts out there.  I am about 99% sure I will be pulling the trigger on my first tub, the Limelight Pulse.  One quick question, and excuse me if it is a stupid question: does the Pulse have a cool down seat?  I have seen one in person, but it was several months back and quite honestly, I cannot remember.  Another question I have pertains to the Everwood steps that I would get.  Does anyone know the dimensions of these steps?  I am trying to evision my setup, and want to have a very specific idea as far as how much room I will need on my cement pad.  Any general comments about the Pulse would be welcome, too!!

Thanks guys!

The Pulse does in fact have a cool down seat....dimensions as I just measured on the Everwood steps are 32" long x 22" deep x 15 1/4" tall

Not taking anything away from the Hot Springs dealer you choose to go with, but as far as the steps are concerned, if you have any hint of carpenter skills, make your own! Go to Lowes, Home Depot, etc., and get some of the prefabbed "step" wood, and some treated 2x4s. Make your own and you'll save a few hundred dollars. I saw some of the Everwood steps on line for about 400.00. I made mine for under 65.00. Mine are pressure treaded, heavy duty and will last, most likely, much longer than the "plastic" ones you purchase. I also stained mine a nice coffee color to compliment my spa.

I still love my Hot Spring Envoy spa!

A set of Everwood's can be had for $288 online from a couple different sources, but you are correct if you possess carpentry skills you can surely build your own for less and stain them to match your spa cabinet

Thanks for the info, guys!  I have a couple more questions, and your input is hugely appreciated.  Once again, please excuse my ignorance.  I am brand new to all this, and really want to make sure my setup is good, and I am doing this right.  Regarding the Pulse, can anyone tell me where the cool down seat is in relation to the control panel?  Is it on the same side?  Is the side the control panel on considered the front of the tub?  Lastly, does it matter which way the cover opens?  In other words, can you choose which side the cover would be on when it is off and the tub is being used?  Assume I will have one of the cover lifters.

Thanks!!!!

I doubt very much that a home-built set of steps will last as long as, much less outlast a set of the steps from Watkins.

We sell two different sets of steps, plus the faux stone units, so let's be sure we are talking about the correct ones. The "Everwood" steps are built from the same type of material as the siding, are factory assembled, and weigh a ton! If you have not gone into a dealer and tried to pick up one of these steps, then you are simply not qualified to comment about their durability, sorry.

These are the 'Everwood' steps, and are the ones I'm referring to:

Agreed ^.
The everwood step is a solid durable step. Matches perfect and holds up great. $400 seems like a high retail price with a purchase of a Pulse. Unless of course the dealer has "helped" you out in some other area of the quote.

I am referring to the "Everwood" steps. I surely won't argue that the steps are very nice looking, and being made from what I suppose is remanufactured plastic, it will last for many years. I have a set of Adirondack chairs made from that material I just mentioned and they have a lifetime warranty. I stand corrected as to the price since I went back and looked and found some that are available at the $288.00. My dealer wanted the $480.00 (give or take a few dollars) price for his Everwoods. Way too much and as I stated above, for me, the $288 is way too much for those steps. I made some that I will put against those any day. This tub will be in the land fill before the steps I made for under $65 are gone. I realize that I'll most likely have to paint them every 3 or 4 years, but I was not willing to part with that much money for something that could be built so easily. I also under-lit mine with LED so they glow in the dark, assuring the soaker a lighted way out of the water.

Is it ok to assume that you have a very happy customer after that start up?   Beautiful!

Spoledrotten, this is a BRILLIANT idea (I took the liberty of bolding some of your quote)! My Marquis Spirit steps are fully enclosed so lighting underneath is impossible, those step do need to have some sort of subdued lighting around for when we step out in the dark so will be thinking about that before the deck is laid and the spa goes in.

Thanks!  :)

Thanks!
I'll try to remember to take a couple of shots of the steps at dusk this evening to post for others to see if interested. I have shots of them in the "show us your hot tub" pics, but I don't have any pics of them lit. I ran an outdoor on/off toggle switch to the corner of the gazebo for ease of operation.

Here's a shot (albeit not a great shot) of some customer installed LED's into his homemade step, turned out pretty cool imo

Thanks TwinCities that is pretty cool, just enough light so we don't break our necks.  :P

Am looking forward to seeing SpoiledRotten's, too.

Apologies to NewGuy... but I do believe we have hijacked his thread... :-[ Can a mod/admin transfer these pics into the "Show us your Hot Tub" section?  Might be more appropriate and also easier to find for future reference. Perhaps a thread of its own?

Thanks all.  :)

Krsy,

Mine aren't as fancy as the ones TCHS just posted, but they certainly work for me.
