Chrome jets, will they pit?

We have been researching hot tubs for a couple of months now and are just starting to wet test them.
I would not get chrome jets as an option, but on the optima they are standard equipment. I know by reading this board for the past week that there are plenty of satisfied optima owners.

Has any one had chrome jets for say 5-10 years? I am wondering if they "pit" after awhile. We have not wet tested the optima yet.

They are Stainless steel on the optima.

Granted we've only had our spa for a year, but so far the rings around the jets look like they did when they were new.

15 months and mine still look like new.  I'm not an optima owner, but I believe they are the same jets.

Eventually they will start to pit, the time frame is dependent on how well you maintain the balance of the water and the hardness.

I'll second Gary's comments. I'm not a fan of them at all. My spa is about 5 years old but doen't look it but I know if it had them on it they'd have made a turn for the worse long ago.

All i will say is that I have also seen plastic jets look terrible after a year on spas with chlorine and ozone. I am not to quick to judge without all the information, like what sanitation system are they using. Just because jets from 5 years ago look bad doesn't mean that advances haven't been made to improve the durability. We have spas with and without stainless steel jets and I have seen no problem with them. Tubs from 5 years ago that used chrome I have seen problems with. Find out more information from the dealer Markb before making your final decision

There not to expensive to replace. Considering all they are exposed to 5 years or more isn't bad.  I wanted a different style jet in mind and paid $15 each I think for 2 jets.   If I start noticing pitting in 4 or more years, I'll replace a few at a time when I see it.  Its small pototoes vs chemical, heating, and water cost to keep a spa looking nice.

my dealer sold me a 5 year no fault warranty so I'm comfortble it would be.
