How do I remove a filter stand pipe?
« on: March 25, 2013, 09:04:57 pm »
I have a hot springs hot tub and I want to remove the filter stand pipes and clean them out. The precious owner of the hot tub left some old filters on here and the filters started to break down and some of the runner from the filter started to stick around those filter stand pipes so I want to take them out and clean.

I'm thinking they just unscrew. Anyone ever done this before?

unscrew them counter clockwise.  just note where the grey hollow one comes off, and replace it back there.  it feeds the circ pump/heater.

Be sure to turn off the power first. They put a dab of silicone to help secure the stand pipes, and it can drop in and be swallowed by the circ pump. If the power is off, (or if the power is off AND the tub is empty) it is easy to grab any bits of silicone which may come loose in the process of removing the stand pipe.
