I have a buddy with a 42" LED mounted inside of a wooden weather tight box with a glass front. It has holes with screens on the underside to allow the sound out. Works pretty good. I prefer the stars.

Whats a ball park cost for something like that?  Doubt even a smaller TV can be done for less than 1k, no?

Counting the cost of the TV and put a figure of 20-30 bucks an hour on his labor and it is likely a bit lower than that. He has a nice big wood shop and loves doing woodwork.

I wonder how much time you spend per soak to need a TV, but that wasn't your question.  Few things will help your estimate:

Where are you?  Cold is a factor
How good does it need to look?
How far away from the tub will you want to mount the TV.  You wont need a 42" screen if its mounted a foot from the edge of your tub.

Building a wooden box, that's insulated, waterproof, with a glass front that wont fog up isn't that hard. but it'll be hard to make it look pretty.  If you're up north, then look into outdoor TVs.  You'll be looking at a very short lifespan powering up flatscreens in freezing temps due to internal condensation that'll fry your board in no time.

I did give some thought to installing a bracket to hold an ipad, but it never seemed worth the effort.

Not far away from the tub, I can mount it on a swivle stand or build a cabinet easily.
I could fish the HDMI cable outside easily + there is power out there.

I just bet an Outdoor 20" TV is over $1,000 right?

here is a great article covering outdoor tv's, things to be aware of, things to avoid, etc. and yes they are spendy $1200-$1500 for around a 32" I believe
