2011 Optima

Found a 2011 Optima Brand new $8100 with full warranty, this tub has the ozone system in lieu of the Clear Ray.  Anyone know which system is better?

 Both systems work well,  you said new with 5 year warranty?      Is this from a retail place or a consumer.  If retail and they are a Sundance dealer you are fine with a warranty.  If it's a private seller no such luck.   FWIW it's a good price either way..

Retailer floor model, tells me warranty starts whwn I take delivery.  I hear the clear ray is cutting edge technology and works good but higher maintenance costs?

If you have been led to believe that Ozone or Clear Ray will somehow magically make sanitation requirements go away. You were misled. Don't let that be a deciding factor in your decision. Comfort in your butt, wallet and dealer.

If the Clear Ray comes included then fine but I probably wouldn't even replace the bulb when it goes out because the bulbs aren't cheap and I'd bet you wouldn't even notice a difference. Its UV which is not cutting edge technology or even new technology and doesn't really do much in hot tubs. Leave this out of your checklist when making a decision.

I have had one customer who had me add a UV system in-line with ozone on a HotSpring spa. I found a good unit, made for hot tub use, and plumbed it between the heater and the ozone injector, and then wired it in.

Several years later, there was a Ground Fault, tripping the breakers, and I traced it to the UV unit. Simple job to remove it, and from the looks of it, it had been bad for a very long time. The customer had noticed no change whatsoever.
