J 465 polishing filter bag necessary?

Is the polishing filter a needed component on my J 465? It is on top of secondary filter. It gets dirty rather easy.

Just wondering if the experts recommend keeping this $30 dollar filter that should be changed every year at a minimum or is the filter below it sufficient?

I read that thread and that is why I ask the Question because the polishing filter on  a J 465 is not on the primary filter but the secondary filter. The filter in the other thread I believe is on the primary filter.

 The secondary filter only filters when the number 1  blower is running unless it is programmed on the J 1000 controller. It can run up to 120 minutes a day. It is set at 0 from the factory.

I would say that you are the best person to answer this question. If the secondary filter IS getting dirty, then that is 'stuff' which the main filter doesn't have to deal with. If it's a hassle to have the extra filter, you could try putting it in place only for the first week after a water change, or after somebody like my brother in law:

uses your tub, and then storing it the rest of the time.

Your dealer may have some insight - if there are local water issues which make it a good idea to use this thing, or perhaps not worth the bother.

I do have a secondary filter that has a polishing filter bag on top of it.

If i understand the way it work is that bag is prior to the filter, i have been just rinsing mine out

Sve your money and room in the landfill, skip these special fitlers and go with a 1 piece standard filter.

  I have had one in my spa for over 2 years, I rinse it out and put it back in.   That bag is not meant to be disposable till it falls apart.     And yes if it's getting dirty it's doing it's job, but it also has to be really full of crap to stop any kind of flow..
