Large Outdoor Hot Tub
« on: December 12, 2011, 01:14:01 pm »
Hi,

I'm looking for the biggest outdoor hot tub I can find from a reputable dealer/manufacturer.  It needs to be free-standing and self-contained.

I thought I had found one with the inter-spa Chancellor http://www.inter-spas.com/spa_showroom/chancellor_hot_tub.php ....but it makes me nervous that inter-spa does not appear to have a brick-and-mortar factory.

I don't need recliners or a massive amount of jets...just capacity...and good insulation.  Hot tub will be located in Pennsylvania.

I've surfed the web quite a bit, but it appears that most manufacturers stop at an 8 person tub.  I'm looking for a 10...or better yet 12 person tub.
We have four children (15, 13, 11, 10)....so our family takes up 6 seats.  If the kids have any friends...we run out of space.  Although time might solve this problem....when the kids get to the "I want don't want to hang with Mom & Dad stage".

Thanks for any info.

Check out http://www.hydropoolhottubs.com/Swim-Spas/aquatrainer-iX--And--fX/AquaTrainer-fX-19

As well as http://www.hydropoolhottubs.com/Hot-Tubs/Self-Cleaning/10-Person

I almost purchased the swim spa a few months back, installed I was getting it for around 20K, juat did not have the back yard for it. I purchased a 7000 model, 7 seat tub from them because of their reputation in Canada and the local dealer was the most helpful.

Welcome to the forum.  I've seen a Cal spa that seats 8-10.  Coming from the empty nester, the kids going their separate ways will come sooner than you think. Still, once the initial excitement wears off, I'm guessing a 6 person spa will be enough 90% of the time.

this....sit down and figure out how many times 8-10 people will actually be in the spa together...Calspa does make a couple large units but to be honest most of the large spas from quality manufacturers are going to be swim spas that are geared towards aquatic fitness with not many true "seating" options for a group of people.

wpbucher,

I work for Inter-Spas.com.  We have been making premium spas in Virginia for 35 years.  We boast a 280,000 square foot production facility.  We are happy to give factory tours upon request.   ;D

I'm with the Twin - after about 30 years of doing this, I find that the more a person insists on buying a huge spa for entertaining, the less likely they are to have more than two people in the tub at a time.

The only time that is likely to change is if you have a history of big parties and soaking - for example if you just moved out of a house with a pool-attached hot tub and you had crowds all the time. Or maybe you are setting up a resort, retreat center or Ashram or something - of course there are exceptions. But by far, most of my customers tell me that when the lid comes off, two people are getting in. With large families, the kids are far more likely to want to get in with friends during the day, and Mom and Dad have the tub to themselves in the evening.
