I'm surprised to see nobody chime in about bbiguanides.  I add my maintenance chemicals weekly and have never had an issue.  Ganted, I only had a hot tub for 4 months.

The OP asked about "easiest" and "best."

I have cut WAY back on selling biquanides. I used to push "Baqua" products, but I had so many customers who grew tired of replacing filters, and having to flush out plumbing every couple of years. Also, the water clarity was an issue: if you did everything JUST perfect it was fine, but if the water got even a tiny bit cloudy you were going to change the water.

Also, we have a lot of water mold around here for some reason, and Baqua just couldn't seem to handle it.

I'm for Dichlor or Brillinace now.
