question about circuit boards
« on: November 11, 2011, 09:02:28 am »
i got an older (06-07) tub that does nothing. its got a balboa vs500 series control pack. wiring is good, the top side control is digital and has scrambled or no codes at all. which leads me to think voltage brownout on main board. my question, before i make a purchase, will a " viking spa control board (vkv500r) interchange with the balboa system? the boards look practically identical. thx in advance for replies.

Probably.  However, you should contact Viking Spas tech support to see what keypad they use with the vkv500r.  Balboa tech support (800-645-3201) could also look that up for you.

I agree that it will most likely work.  However, I would consult the maker to verify that.  What is drawing you to this tub? I was recently looking at hot tubs san antonio.  I was really impressed with the amount of options I could get for fairly cheap.  Tubs are expensive, but I would look for new if I was you.  It might be more cost effective in the end.
