ok, a 3 legged "princess" cat and darth vader doggie from brook (almost have to see that to belive it  :D ) and East handing out NRA/credit apps......and here i thought halloween was about running around, trick'er treatin'.
my usual hand out- resees cups, m&m's, smartees, and whoppers.
2 pcs. per kid w/ an attempt at a costume.
3 for the little ones (4-8). big smile from them when you show them they are not getting a notepad. yes, a note pad. it was a terrible childhood......jk.
now, the babies-4 year olds, ill ask the mom if a hadfull is ok.
the later it gets, i just shove the bowl out "take 2, only 2. im faster than i look"  ;D

I'll take pics of the dog and try to get the cat... she's not real freindly since she lost the leg.  She pretty much hides under the bed when she's not eating.  I don't even know if she'll fit into the costume this year.  She's gained a lot of weight since the incident.  Hard to get your exercise when you are missing a back leg and not allowed outdoors anymore.

Pic of doggie varder would be cool...."princess" has a valid point for staying under the bed.
Not to bring up painfull memories....but what happened? I must have missed the story.

Well, while dogs/cats are dressing like people, my niece is dressing up as a bumble bee. Maybe ill share, shes a cutie.

She was asleep on our front porch and 2 loose dogs who were roaming the city (more than a mile from home) attacked her dragged her into the street and tore her leg 1/2 off.  $1000+ later we had it amputated and nursed her back to health.  The sad thing is these dogs were out less than a month earlier and had killed a cat in someones garage.  The owners should have faced charges in my opinion.  Instead they euthanized one of the dogs and nothing happened to the other.  They were owned my daughter in law, mother in law combo and lived next door to each other, and apparently ot out and caused mischief together.  I was saddened that their dog had to die because they couldn't keep their pets controlled, but better that then they someday harm a child.

Make sure your tubs are locked when kids come to trick or treat.

There, this thread is now legitimate within the guidelines of this section.

Bill is sorta running along behind us with our training wheels off and when we start to lean to far to the side he props us back up.   ;)

Do not be pressured into donnations. WTF? I remeber kids would trick or treat for UNICEF when I was a kid, but hoenstly, I think collecting money and asking for donations on Halloween night isn't the best idea. IT's about trick or treating and having fun. If every kid asked for a donation, you'd go broke.

Give out the candy, "Here you go kidies! Enjoy"

"We're collecting for the demented spa designers fund of Colorado. Would you like to make a donation? We'd like to stamp out Spa dementia in our life time..."

"Sorry. all I have is candy for trick or treaters. Have a good night!"

Be really careful if a couple of dogs come to your door dressed in cat costumes, barking trick or treat....once the word is out they'll all try! :o

Ditto what Bill just said.  Last 2-3 years.......lucky to see 20 visitors at my door for candy. Not sure why that is.

Last night I gave out candy, and at 1 point it started getting wild, and bout a block down the street, some kids egged someone's car. Well, the teenager who had their car egged starts moanin and groaning etc,and starts spewing cuss word this, cuss word that etc etc. I was standing there, thinkin to myself,I sure hope there aren't any youngsters around hearing those choice adjectives.

Times have changed since I was a kid. I can remember being armed with 3 trashbags prior to leaving the house, and having a plan to fill em all up in the alloted time lol.  What I found as a kid that was effective, was hitting up as many apartment buildings as you could,as the distance between each unit was short. (I grew up in a town called "Alameda",which had apartments scattered here and there)

I think times have changed,as more parents are worried about the weirdos that are out there nowadays.

Oh,keeping this related to hot-tubs,I comtemplated having a community bobbing for apples,in my hot-tub/grin.

I was out last night on patrol, and it was QUIET.  We saw very few kids out, it's really declined since I was that age.  I covered a neighborhood where I grew up, and it was suprisingly quiet- when I was of that age, it was wall to wall kids out trick or treating.
Only a couple minor vandalism reports.
Mrs. Brewman said that our neighborhood, which is out of my patrol zone, was way slower than in the past few years too.  We sure have a lot of candy bars left over.

We had 97 kids in our little neighbourhood. It's just terrific to see the little ones all dressed up! The weather was unseasonably warm last night which really helped! (Usually the kids have to wear a jacket/parka over their costume to keep warm - takes away from the overall effect) - but not last night!

I also kept track of UNICEF requests - had 21 - I politely refused them all. How do you prepare for that? Maybe if one kid was the designated UNICEF collector for the neighbourhood, then ok - but you won't see me donating over 21 different times.

Anyways, it was a good night that brought lots of smiles.

We get less and less kids every year.  It's a shame too, as I have a huge adult halloween bash every year and usually leave the decorations up for trick or treaters. (Fog machines, music,  mummys, skeletons, graveyard, lightening effects...the works).

Last year, I got 4 kids brave enough to make the trek down the long driveway.

This year? Screw it. I shut the house down, and went out for bloody marys and sushi.

The entire family trick or treated even the Dalmation dressed as Darth Vadar, so I just left a bucket full of candy on the porch.  But when we were home, I probably had 20.  My street only had 4 or 5 houses handing out candy... dissapointing, since we walked up hill.  I don't like exercise.  Especially carrying an 18mo lion.

We had 300 visitors, gave out 400+pounds of candy, and sold/consumed almost 400 In 'n Out Burgers.
