can my wife go in a hot tub if she's pregnant?
« on: August 27, 2010, 03:33:23 pm »
unbelievably, my wife and I have been shopping for a hot tub, then last night she takes a pregnancy test and....

we'll be expecting our 4th in april!!!!  we were just about to wet test the Caldera/Hot Springs tubs--(and at least by looks we like the Niagra), but now we're wondering if its safe, or if its too much to ask the dealer to turn down the temperature of the tubs for our wet tests?

I suggest you ask a physician about the use of a hot tub while pregnant.  ???

It should definitely not be a problem for the dealer to turn the heat down.

All I have heard is that it is recommended that children not be in warmer water (100 degree or better) for more than 10 min at a time.

Hope this helps.

Ask the doctor.  This is the last place I'd look for advice on this.  Not that we don't have many educated opinions here, I just think a baby is too precious to not ask the doctor.

Keep the tub at 98 degrees and she'll be fine!  I went in with my 4th and he's my smartest one yet!  :D

If she were ever to break a sweat, then have her get out--not cool down, get out.  That's what I did.  I also kept running until I was a bit over 5 months...

The massage of the jets was GREAT for my back and legs.

Congratulations!!

My midwife was had good information on this. The studies showing that high temperatures are not good for pregnant women were based on women who were ill with fevers -- not really a good study for hot tubs.

My midwife said "when you get too hot, get out". I did find that I couldn't stay in as long, but I really enjoyed the hot tub, or the hot bath during both pregnancies.
