spa; $6-8k to burn . . . :)‏
« on: February 20, 2010, 07:04:37 pm »
i am interested in the "best" spa in the $ range described. a 4 person max spa is plenty big and a 3 person max would be just fine.

factors:
1. yearly operating costs
2. comfort and feel (subjective, i know)
3. longevity/warranty
4. sturdiness (does it just run for years or is it high maintenance?)

i will go with a local dealer vs. costco, etc.

my local short list includes:
hot springs
dimension one
sundance

i look forward to your considered reply.

I am a dealer, so course I have a strong opinion.  You described the Hot Spring Jetsetter.

Are the 2010 models out yet.  Just got home from our local HS dealer today and still no "10s'

For that budget you really won't get much of a tub at all with either Hot Springs nor the Dimension One's.  However, you can get a pretty decent sized tub from Sundance's parent company's Spas, Jacuzzi.  I think you could pick up a J365 or possibly even a 400-series tub.  I am not a dealer but do own a 7 year old J375 that has been VERY economical to operate and I paid only $6,500 for mine with stereo included.  If was a few years back and although prices have gone up, the recent poor economy has also held down such increases over the past 3 or 4 years so the smaller 365 should be easily obtained for your target price.

However, the MOST important part is how the jets feel to YOU so try out different models until you find something you like.

Wet Test!!!  Wet Test!! oh Wet Test!!!!  All are good brands with good warranties.  Check into the dealer, and see who you comfortable working with.

Thanks for input; haven't seen a Jacuzzi in these parts in years, though.
