Are Your Ready For Some Football....
« on: September 04, 2008, 10:31:51 am »
Sorry to see summer go, but it sure makes for some nice nights and mornings soaking in the hot tub this time of year.  Plus, it's football season!  NFL kicks off tonite with the Redskins vs. the Giants.  As an Eagles fan, I hate dislike both teams with a passion.  But the Skins are the lesser of the two evils to me right now.  So go Skins!

Boy, I haven't been on in a while, and now my son busted up his arm flipping on the trampoline, so that means no karate.  As far as football, Of COurse us STEELER fans are psyched up!!   Hubby is planning to watch the game tonight, He is probably rooting for Skins as well, but I am not sure--bad week this week--hubby was excited to think he has the night off without having to take Jr to karate, but forgot about our daughter having gymnastics (and of course, I work tonight).

Well, the real season to us starts at 1 pm on Sunday!!

GO STEELERS!!!!!!!

I thoroughly dislike the Cowboys and to a lesser degree Giants so I always root for the Eagles and Skins (my boyhood team which explains my dislike for the Cowboys, before Jerry Jones made me dislike them even more). Unfortunately the Cowboys are the obvious pick from the NFC for the Super Bowl though I'd love to see them fall flat again.

The AFC though is loaded with the Big 3 of NE, Indy and SD obviously awfully strong. Jacksonville is tough but I don't trust their offense to keep pace. Pitt should outclass Cleveland for their division but they can't stand with the big 3 either.

In the end one of the best things about the NFL is you really can’t predict much. Some team (or two) who is supposed to be less than a .500 team or will win 10 or more games. A couple teams who are supposed to challenge will tank!!

Unless Joe Greene is going to suit up this weekend the number of rings the Steeler franchise has means next to nothing for the '08 Steelers chances.

Of course they have a chance, just like everyone does at this time and better than most. I just see the Steelers as the 4th/5th best team in the AFC and think they and Jax are step down from the big 3. Maybe Pittsburgh will be a force, maybe they'll fall back like '06 or maybe they'll be a good playoff team but not have enough to scare teams to much.

Heck, teams like Buffalo and Detroit could win between 4 and 11 games this year! Its the NFL, predictions are just fun but mean little. Many/most people expected New Orleans to be a top NFC team last year and Cleveland to be one of the worst in the AFC and then the season started!!!

I know, Spatech!!  I just like to remind you haters out there...hahaha....5 rings and all...

It is unpredictable, like you said, and who knows with injuries and all what can happen.  Season hasn't started yet, and already Polamalu had time off, Charlie Batch, our backup QB, busted his collarbone, but at least we have Byron Leftwich for b/u now.  Big Ben (a Maxxus owner, as we are told  ;)) had his rough spells, too.

Time and season will tell, but I am still a FAN, not a HATER!!  (unless it's them Cowboys, HATER!)

At least we can agree on something - hate for the Cowboys!

Don't know what it's like out in Pittsburgh, but there are a lot of Cowboys fans in the Philly area.  Don't see how somebody can root for a team 1000 miles away when you have the home team right here.

As for Jerry Jones, I couldn't stand him either.  But I got to meet him last year at Pat's, a cheesesteak place in Philly, before the Eagles/Cowboys game.  Was very friendly and appeared to like talking football with me while we were there eating.  So I kinda warmed towards him a bit, but I still HATE his football team.

No Steeler hater here. I admit I used to root against the old time Steelers a bit but that was many years ago only because they were dominating (I never root for Goliath) but I didn't really hate them, I just wanted someone else to have a turn. Since they've been fairly mediocre as franchises go the past 25 years or so they’re just another team to me (though a pretty good one now).

Now the Raiders and Cowboys I've rooted against no matter how good/bad they are.

Regardless of hurricanes,...  I have always rooted for the Saints.  I heard they will be playing in the Super Dome this Sunday?  Gustav eased off?  I hope, that area has been hit sooo hard lately.

Anyhoo, let's all hope for all players to be healthy, no life threatening injuries, no misdemeanors or felonies, and--

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!! :) :)

I hope Big Ben performs well this season Chrisy. He is my starting FF QB, so I am expecting big things out of him. Other than him though......

GO CHIEFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't discount the Chiefs. I think they are in great shape to compete this year for the #1 draft pick.

Yeah unfortunately if will probably be a long year for us Chief fans. But hey, until tonight we are all 0-0, so we got to stay positive right!!! I am predicting best case scenario 6 wins, but you never know!!

I am definitely looking forward to grilled food, ice cold beer, and MNF in the hot tub. This is why I got everything fixed and back to factory new this week with my Dynasty.

Sundays, I usually spend inside because we shelled out the money for Sunday ticket with HD Superfan package for the second year in a row. My wife actually gets it as an early Christmas present for me, even though she doesn't work and it's my money paying for it. :)

I also joined a fantasy league at espn.com as I tried it for the first time last year and came in first not only in points but with overall record too with John Kitna as my QB, the league name is Dirty Sanchez (I didnt pick it, I simply joined a public league with autopick draft in the 8th and final spot).

If there are any XBOXers out there who want to join each others freinds list, we should start a thread just for that.
