THE WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS

Twas the week before Christmas and all through the town customers were screaming their hot tubs are down.

The temperature is dropping, snow on the way and their guests are all wanting a hot tub to play…but, their heaters aren’t heating and pumps wont go, the jets are not jetting and their blowers wont blow.

So I loaded my van up with heaters and parts, dressed up in my hat, gloves and carhartts. With cell phone and maps, schematics and books off I went in a rush to take a look.

I found dirty filters and water to low, breakers were bad and some plumbing had to go. I replaced several heaters and even some pumps, cut my hands, froze my ears and my head got some bumps but at the end of the day not one spa froze and I stood there contented with a cold runny nose.

Testing the last spa I heard a strange sound, behind me jingle bells so I spun around. There to my surprise did appear, Santa himself with sleigh and reindeer.

“Hop in Spa Man!” He said pointing his thumb with a jerk, the elves hot tub is broken and they don’t want to work!

“But Santa” I cried, “I’m tired cold and sad”…he interrupted quite stern and said “don’t make Santa mad”

So I loaded my tools on the back of the sleigh and mumbled to myself as we flew out of site “stupid elves, it’s gonna be another long night!”

Thanks Chas, although I know that much of it was beyond your comprehension when relating to the cold and snow! ;)

...and today was the day all of this came to a head, today I had a grande, a D1Aurora II, a Marquis 530, a Cal spa 857 and an Arctic Tundra. I was able tofix all but the Arctic, the guy did nothing to winterize it because his salesman told him it would hold up in sub-zero Canadian climate...guess he didn't understand that it didn't mean when it was half full. Wont fix that one until we can thaw it.

Yeah, I once had someone who opened their spa to find one big iceberg. Their line to me was "but it has built in freeze control". Not when you shut off the circuit breaker
If you can't sell it on eBay, it may not even qualify as landfill.

Retired (mostly) from the industry after 33 years...but still putzing around with a consumer information website, and trying to sell obsolete owners manuals
