Need help with connector.
« on: November 06, 2009, 09:42:49 am »
I am almost done with my 220 #6 wire run, but i need some advice on which liquid-tight connector to use.

I have completed all but the last 6 feet of liquid-tight flex conduit.

My question is, how do i connect my 1 inch metal EMT to the 6 foot Flex conduit? I want something that is like a pressure fitting liquid-tight metal connector. I can not find a connector that goes from 1 inch to 3/4 flex that is liquid-tight.

This type only fits the 1 inch emt but not the 3/4 flex conduit.

http://www.manufacturer.com/images/product/www.alibaba.com/0316/c/11005050_Liquidtight_Connector_Metal_Enclosure_Conduit_Straight_.jpg

What have others used for such a connection?

Can i use any type connector and use silicone on the ends to prevent any water from getting in?

Any advice is appreciated..

How about using a water tight electrical box where the 2 different types of connections meet. Terminate the EMT to one side and the flex to the other. If you are not going to terminate the wires inside the box then it doesn't have to be a large box - it is just a junction for 2 different housings to meet.
