Jet Removal

I have a question. Not sure if most spas are like this or it is just my thermospas.  The jets in my spa can be removed. They have an outer ring which if you twist it you turn the flow off to the jet if you twist it more then pull the jet comes out.  My problem is they are so hard to get a good grip on to turn them.  Do you guys have any suggestions?

I have a thin piece of rubber that was designed as an air to opening jars. I occasionally use that.
