Dealers hows everyone doing?
« on: December 04, 2008, 01:27:21 pm »
So now that they officially said we are in a recession ::)  Hows everyone doing??

I sold a spa on Saturday first in 2 weeks since Vegas, hows your traffic been??   Had a few people in but most just kicking tires. Couple on the hook but not ready to bite. Were running a promo starting the 17th through the end of the year so will see.  :)

We did our sales totals were only down 5% from this time last year so not to bad overall.

  Thoughts???

Lets keep up the positive MOJO and will kick this in the butt!!

Pretty much the same here Jim.  We are a small tick below last year, which in my opinion is amazing considering the amount of foot traffic.  We do have several quality leads that will buy as soon as stuff settles down a little bit.  So hopefully the future looks better than the past few months.  It would be nice to get a little cooperation from the media, I know things are bad but how about talking about something else for once.  Maybe how much money we are all saving at the pump right now?

Don't worry.....I have a feeling the media will cooperate soon...
oh let say on or about Jan 20, 2009. I am sure it will be just a
total coincidence that things like gas pump prices, progress in Iraq,
and any and all positive news will be emphasized starting about that time.

Whatever it takes to help.  A little cooperation from the white house would be nice as well.

Ya ever think that if the media simply reported that the economy is making the fastest turn around in history, people would go spend money  ;D ;D
If you can't sell it on eBay, it may not even qualify as landfill.

Retired (mostly) from the industry after 33 years...but still putzing around with a consumer information website, and trying to sell obsolete owners manuals

You might be surprised how much the media is effecting how much people are spending money right now.

I am not a dealer, just a buyer waiting for my tub. I had a conversation with the sales lady last night and she said ours was one of three that was coming in on the truck (two deliveries per month), meaning they had at least 3 sales for that 2 week period. This is a small town of @ 1,000 people, and although they service a wider area, struck me as a lot of sales of big ticket items in a short period. She said that traffic is down but that people are still buying. This little spa shop has been in business over 30-years and are therefore well established, but the community around it is pretty depressed and without a lot of money. It would seem people are considering spa purchases to be more than luxury items and vital to their well being to support this amount of traffic in this area.

Don't know if this is a lot of sales, but it was an encouraging sign to me in a very depressed state (Michigan) in a poor area of the state.

U.S. job losses worst since 1974 as downturn deepens
Friday December 5, 2008, 10:01 am

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. employers axed payrolls by 533,000 jobs in November, the most in 34 years and far more than expected, government data on Friday showed, as the year-old recession hammered every corner of the U.S. economy.

"You can't get much uglier than this. The economy has just collapsed, and has gone into a free fall," said Richard Yamarone, chief economist at Argus Research in New York.

October and November of this year have been the biggest months we have ever had?!? I am not sure if it is because we lost 2 of our competitiors, or the area. We are in a small town, but very close to several ski towns that have many second homes and these are the peope we are selling to 3:1.

this month so far has been very slow, we have a few irons in the kettle, but no signed contracts yet.

Day by Day and customer service is key!
Clearwater Spa Dealer, Great Lakes Spa Dealer, Helo and Almost Heaven Saunas. Authorized service center for several spa lines, CPO. APSP member. Good old fashioned New England service!
