test kit question
« on: July 31, 2008, 04:29:18 pm »
I just got my tub (love it) Hot springs jetsetter (first spa). After reading the forum i noted the suggestion about getting a test kit rather then strips. I purchased a kit I though was correct but when i got it home i noticed one of the tests was different then the strips.
I have an ozonator and a silver ion sanitizer installed. My strips look for MPS, Alkcalinity, and PH.
The test kit check Bromine, PH and Clorine.
QUESTION: Are the tests the same or did i get the wrong test kit.
Easily taken back if so. Any suggestions as to what kit and where to get one.
Thanks

The tests are different.

Bromine and chlorine are sanitizers.

MPS is a shock (non-chlorine oxidizer).

Alkalinity and PH are physical properties of the water.

Which sanitizer are you using?

However, the (scientific) method of testing for chlorine, bromine and MPS are exactly the same (the test measures oxidation potential), although the test results are calibrated differently.

If you can't sell it on eBay, it may not even qualify as landfill.

Very cool.   8-)

Thanks for the additional info.  I'm still working on all the ins & outs.

Another test kit question here:  I am getting a pool and a spa it seems.  The pool is going to be salt and the pool (likely chlorine), is there a good one stop shop test kit or strip system that will work for both?
