it won't hold water - augh!
« on: May 29, 2008, 09:17:39 am »
I'm glad I've been referred to this site - I was told someone here would be able to help.  My hot tub is leaking - around 5 inches or more per day.  I've taken the side panels off and what little I can see because of insulation is dry.  The main panel where all of the connections, etc are - its totally dry.  The hot tub is sitting on a flatstone patio - the stones are dry, the area around it is dry.  I have no idea where the water is going.  Right now it has maybe 18 inches of water in it.  I've turned it off at the breaker box.

Any idea's?  Of course it is 3 yrs old so it might? be out of warrenty.  No one seems to know - the spa repair guy is trying to work with the company but I've about had it with the entire thing.

Sounds like a question best answered by Steve.  He worked for Hydropool a couple of years ago and might be your best source of information on this forum.

Good luck and don't give up on it.  It is probably something fairly minor that is being overlooked.

At 5"+ per day, it's gotta go somewhere! :o You have a leak at a union or jet body and that foam needs to be removed. A professional can determine where that leak is in short time and it's not a huge deal.

I was a rep for Hydropool for a few years. Where did you buy it? Are they not looking after you? Hydropool is an awesome company and head office will make sure you are looked after if your dealer is a putz.

You can always PM me with the details and I can do what I can to help.

Steve

LOL... thanks Term!  ;)

Depending on model, there is a good chance your warranty on an issue like that is 5 years. Call the dealer.

Plumbing is 3 years but most companies will be accomodating if your warranty just expired.

The Serenity is their entry level line so it doesn't have the same warranty as the Self Clean line.

From their website;

10 Year / 5 Year / 3 Year
Serenity Guarantee
Hydropool Hot Tubs are built to stand
the test of time. Hydropool
guarantees the hot tub shell for a full
10 years, the acrylic surface for 5 years
and the operating equipment and
plumbing for 3 years.

Thanks for all of the great information.  The company we purchased it from is no longer in business - of course.  We'd had problems a year ago and a repair guy came and looked into it and fixed it.  He handled it through Hydropool warranty.  I've talked with him and he is trying to get Hydropool to warranty this - so far it is a no go.  Our warranty info says:  shell 10 yrs limited warranty, interior surface 3 yrs limited, labour 3 yrs , etc.

We purchased it late 04 and it was delivered Jan 05.  So there you have it.

Sometimes there's a happy medium and other options to get it looked after.

Steve,
You need to stop kidding yourself. Get back in the spa industry, that's where your heart is. It's obviously not in selling hair dryers to make blue haired old ladies happy or pushing the latest hair gel or whatever other beautification products you deal with.
