Doing my 1st drain and refill...

Any pointers?  I've had the tub 6 months and I am doing my 1st drain and refill.  Any advise?
Can I clean the shell with anything?

I bought some metal control, I was advised to put some of that in on fillup, anything else?

Get a large diameter hose or a sump pump to drain. A garden hose will take forever.

No need to clean the tub. Put the hose where the filters are to get the air out of the pumps.

Don't remember your usage but you really should change your water every 3 to 4 months. Iguess if you don't use it much then 6 months may be OK. If you use chlorine your stabilizer is through the roof and probably TDS as well.

Surprisingly, with the small garden hose it is just about drained.  There is still water at the bottom where my feet would go, but I am letting it drain overnight.  

I turned the breaker off, that is OK right?
