cover lifters

Have not seen too many posts on this.

I am looking to get a cover lifter now.    Can we start a discussion on features and benefits. Which ones are the best? Which ones suck?

I am interested in the covermate series. Don't know the difference between 1,2,3, an ez.

Which ones are easiest to use?  Gas shocks or no?   Which is the easiest to use?  Any comments would be appreciated.

Appears from reading other satisified customers stories that Doc is "the man" so I would tend to follow his advice.

CM1 and CM 3 look almost the same what is the difference? CM2 looks like a deck mount.  and the EZ has a big bar.  

Now features and benefits?

These better or not as good as the cover up?

the 3 has shocks and lifts the cover straight up. the 1 lowers it 1/3 behind the spa. there's a big price difference.

I prefer the Cover-up. It's more versatile, and you said you didn't want to attach anything to the side of your spa or use the plastic pad for support. This leaves the cover-up, attaching to the bottom framing of your spa.

IS the coverup as easy to use and open as the one with the shocks?

Don't know, it kind of depends on your range of movement, and what muscles might be stronger than others. I think they're about the same, just different movements.

In terms of ease of use, for all cover lifts, on a scale of 1 to 100, with 1 having no cover lifter, and 100 having someone open the cover for you, most cover lifts rate between 92 and 97.... probably even more like 95 to 97.

I am on my second Covermate 1.  It is simple and works well.

We sell lots of CM1's and CM3's, but like Doc I like the Cover Up.  It's a well made lifter and the torsion spring system works surprisingly well in place of a gas shock.  Can't go wrong with any of the three.

I have a CM1, and I'm a 5'3" woman, a little stronger than average for my size, but still nothing special, and I have no trouble with this lifter. I opted not to do the one with shocks, since I figured that was a part that could wear out, and then be useless. Sometimes when I only have one arm free, it'd be nice for the lift to have more assistance, but that is so rare, I dont regret the "purchase" (It was free with the tub, but an upgrade would have cost something).

I don't know what I have it came with my envoy... but my 52lb 48" 8 year old was able to do it on his own today.

What everyone always forgets is that the first half of the cover is opened with NO assistance from a cover lifter at all. ANY cover lifter will make opening the second part of the cover easier than the first.
