Coleman Spa

I am totally new to this...and am glad I found this forum..

I live in a Chicago suburb....and was told that a Coleman Spa is the one to get.. I am making a decision on Saturday..

I am looking at the C471...

At this point not only am I looking for confirmation this is a good tub, but I am also looking to be convinced that buying this premium package for $8,000 is a good deal..

Have you looked at other brands?  There is no ONE spa to get.  There are many to choose from.  Different models and different brands will meet your needs differently.  

What research have you done to this point?  Have you looked at the top brands out there such as Jacuzzi, Hot Spring, Sundance, Marquis, Caldera, Dimension One, et al.  There are many others that could be added to the list.

Who told you that Coleman was the "one" to buy?  Was it a salesman or a friend?  Again, there is no one spa to buy.  You really need to look around and wet test to find out which one meets what you are looking for.

Ditto what Vanguard typed. Shop around a little so you have a comparison to help make a decision rather than just accepting a "this is the ONE" recommendation. What you may find is that you prefer the Coleman and the dealer in question. You also may find that another option/dealer suits you better.

Each of the major brands has a dealer locator where you simply enter your zip code and it shows who is local to you. Being in Chicago I'll bet you have access to most if not all of these (my personal extended list of what I'd recommend a new shopper look into, including Coleman):

Yea, what Spatech said, I try to read his posts in more depth these days. There is great wisdom is what he has to offer. If you do your homework you will choose wisely grasshopper.

Have him read the forum and see how much everyone loves their spas.  Then, take him to wet test one.  Give him a glass of wine before he gets in.  Then, just as he is in his full state of relaxation in the spa, ask him how much he loves being in a spa.   8-)

If he's a drunkard, you can try this approach that I have successfully used more than once over the years:

"Honey, did you know that having a HotSpring Spa will actually lower your alcohol bill?  It's true!  The hot water will dialate your blood vessels and you'll get drunk a whole lot faster.  It would be like getting a free 6-pack everytime you got in the spa!"

If the man is worth his weight in whiskey, he'll be buyin' today!

Well.........I'm using money of my own to purchase it...so it's doubtful he'll
object...I guess I'm also looking for reassurance that I'm not being frivilous..
putting out a lot of $$ that I'll regret spending down the road...

I love my spa.  Some people buy a spa and never use it.  I think most of those are people who don't wet test, don't research, get a spa that is hard to take care of because it is a cheap piece of _____.  From what I've seen, the folks that buy a good, quality spa and take the time to make sure the spa they buy feels good before they buy it, they use the spa.

Wet testing the spa is so important.  You want to make sure you fit properly, don't float, the jets feel good to you, etc.  If you don't you might regret it later and not use the spa.  

Do your research.  Find a good dealer.  Ask lots of questions. Wet test.  Then it won't be a frivolous purchase.  You'll love it.
