Water has a blue tint????
« on: May 14, 2008, 10:21:48 pm »
Our J480 has been running great for a week now. :)  But our water has developed a blue tint.  It is very clear and the readings we get all seem to be in line...the ph is on the low end 7.2 to 7.4.  We are using N2 with daily dichlor and have used stain and scale remover.  My wife thinks it might be dye from my suit.  Any input would be appreciated.

Fred

If your suit is blue,it could very well be that,  add a bit of clarifier see if it goes away??

I sure hope your wife didn't put some toilet bowl cleaner in your new tub.  ;D ;D ;D

If your suit is blue, that would be my first guess....

If you're on well water, I'd suspect copper in the water.
If you can't sell it on eBay, it may not even qualify as landfill.

Retired (mostly) from the industry after 33 years...but still putzing around with a consumer information website, and trying to sell obsolete owners manuals

Don't wear a suite and see what happens.  Of course your wife shouldn't either  ;)

Is your tub's shell white?  Mine is and my water, as Steve commented, is always blue-clear unless there are problems.  Or is your water noticeably darker blue than normal?

It's a beautiful aqua blue...against a white shell.  But it didn't start that way.  It was orange from the well and sat most of a week before we got the tub running.  Then became crystal clear and has very slowly and only slightly/lightly developed a blue tint.  It is not dark blue by any means.  It is a little darker in the shade/at night.  It really is pretty, I'm just not sure if it is normal.

Yes on the well water, how do I test for copper and/or do I need to do anything about that.

Tried the no suits.  ;)

Lights are off.   ;D

And my wife only used the toilet bowl cleaner once.  ;D

Thanks for the input even though I'm still not sure what to do if anything.  I think I'll which suits (my second one is also blue but a different material).

Fred

I asked this question after my first fill. I started out green/brown, and ended clear blue. According to my spa guy, that is the color all spas are. It looks beautiful.
