Protecting hot tub from construction debris?

We will be adding on to our house--going up and adding another level. We will need a whole new roof.
I just got a new skin for my hot tob cover. (see other post!) I would like to protect it from flying shingles.
Do I just get a giant sheet of plywood and cover it? I assume I would want to take it off at night so it doesn't squish the foam flat.
I think I should put down a bedsheet first so that the plywood doesn't scratch the cover.
Does that sound fine or should I do something different?
Thanks.

The sheet of plywood sounds like a very good idea. Don't know if the sheet is needed, but it sure can't hurt. I reside my house last year and was worreid about my hot tub (and pool) I didn't think to put the plywood over the cover, thankfully nothing happened.

I'd probably lay a tarp over the entire spa and then put plywood over the cover. The weight of the plywood should not effect the cover since its equally distributed and not heavy per in˛.

Home Depot, 2 sheets of 1/2" OSb (about $8 a sheet. Throw them on top of the spa the spa, cover with a tarp.... then send your roofers my way, I need a new roof too. :-/

If you can't sell it on eBay, it may not even qualify as landfill.

OSB/plywood sounds like the best idea to me.
