How to get debris off tub floor?
« on: March 25, 2008, 12:38:43 pm »
I vaguely remember someone suggesting that you buy 4 feet of clear plastic tubing and use that to suction up dirt off the bottom of your spa floor.

I can't see myself purchasing a spa vacuum.  I am leaning towards something of the home made type/inexpensive.

Any suggestions?

PS...After 4 months of spa ownership, still loving it.  Only soaking 3 times a week now, but that's more because my pains have been significatnly reduced and not due to any unhappiness with the product.

Glad to hear it's treating you well, Solo.

I remember reading that one, too.  Someone mentioned starting a siphon to suck out the debris.  Since then I watched a customer do it with a garden hose to remove sediment that came from the bottom of their hot water heater.  It worked pretty well.

Sorry that's not very technical, but I hope it helps.

On another thread I saw some size 13 feet that might be able to pickup that debris off the floor for you.....

How much debris are we talking about?  Turkey Baster works great just like soak-king recommended.

I'm with Cyn.  Turkey Baster.  Best $1.49 I ever spent.

It might be cheaper at the "Dollar" Store   ;)

I dunno... spa vacs are pretty cheap and if you're using a hose of sorts (the baster may take a while for large areas of debris) the cost of the lost water should be factored in there too. Makes it far more reasonable knowing that you don't have to top up the tub more often...

Maybe ask your Mom for an early BDay present... :-X
