Arctic Spa Dealer Seminar
« on: February 06, 2008, 12:04:03 pm »
Bonjour from Quebec Canada. Taking a little breather from the seminar, but wanted to give everyone a little preview. Very nice city, and actually not too cold here either. Quebec is celebrating their 400th anniversary, so its a pretty big deal here.

Lots of new things to come for 2008. Many updates to every model, one new model due out in June, lots of new colors, and a few more surprises to come. I will post some pics and more info when I get back.

Why would the moderators here allow this blatant self-promotion by a tub manufacturer? Who cares about what goes on at some 'dealer meeting' anyway? It's not as if we have any precedent for this.

Hushed voices making deals in a smoke-filled back room,  with a heavy Canadian accent. Just can't even fathom why we would be interested. And new models? If I wanted to see those I'd go to my local dealer.

Sheesh.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

 8-)

PS - I bet they will add a black, or real dark gray shell color option, fake stone siding, and a TV option.

Quebec? I thought all the Arctic facilities were way out west. Or is this a regional meeting?

Yes their facilities are in Alberta, which is out west. Quebec is just where they decided to have the dealer seminar this year.

We toured the Gecko plant today which was quite interesting. We also just got back from the Ice Hotel in Quebec. It was one of the neatest things I have ever seen. I took some pics and should have some on here next week.

I just checked out Arctic Spas and walked away wondering why they have chosen to insulate the way the have. I thought they were well built otherwise.

When the dealer told me they were built in Canada I was even more curious about the insulation.  Are the houses in Canada built with air cavities in the walls?

In Canada eh

I guess I am going to have to find some more room in my suit case to carry home some hardware. More info later.

Stealing hotel towels is a felony, even at Motel 6.  Don't do it.

LOL.  Yep, we insulate the walls and leave the space inside open.  Makes it easier to move around compared to those houses filled with foam.   ;D

I haven't lived in an igloo for some years now, but they are surprisingly warm. Used to make them with my Scout troop at winter camps.  Contrary to what you may have thought, they are made not from ice but from packed snow, which is a good insulator, and a candle or two will keep it warm inside.  The drips from the ceiling can be annoying, though, if you get it too warm.

I was talking to some gal down south about our phone bill, somewhere along the way I told her I had lived in Alaska for 12 years.  She asked me if people really do live in Igloos there.  :o   No wonder our bill is screwed up.  ::)
