The Wisconsin Department of Justice has filed legal action against a
firm that sells spas at Wisconsin State Fair Park, alleging the firm
failed to tell customers of their right to cancel sales contracts within
three days.

The complaint alleges that Spaman Wholesale Inc. of Waukesha, which does
business as Master Spas of Wisconsin, and its owner, Craig Hueffner,
violated state consumer protection laws by not informing customers that
under state law, sales contracts can be canceled within three days for
transactions that occur away from a "regular place of business,"
Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen said Thursday.

Master Spas, Van Hollen said, has engaged in selling spas, gazebos,
saunas and other goods at locations away from a "regular place of
business," including at the Wisconsin State Fair.

"When a business operates in Wisconsin at a temporary location, it must
give consumers a window to cancel their purchases," Van Hollen said.

The case was investigated and referred to the Department of Justice by
the Department of Financial Institutions. The complaint seeks
forfeitures and penalties, injunctive relief prohibiting future unlawful
behavior and other relief deemed necessary by the court.

Consumers who believe that they have been denied their cancellation or
other rights by Spaman, Hueffner, or Master Spas of Wisconsin are asked
to contact DOJ's consumer protection hotline at (800) 998-0700 or (608)
266-1852.

Now, is "Master Spas of Wis." a privately-owned business, or is that "Master Spas?"

Glad to get the info out about the three-day right to cancel. I had forgotten about that since I don't have any decent home shows around here to do anymore.

No, it is not Master Spa Corporate, but the local "wheeler dealer" that is there to pump them out.  This stuff is old.  This has been going on now for more than 7 years around the country.  I am glad to see the justice department has decided to do something about it.

Heffner brothers have been doing this in Wi forever.  They are and will be in business until consumers stop buying from them.  Until them, the state can sue but I think its just a waste of $$$$.

We have a Tim Beale out here in L.A. that runs about 10 shows a year.  Is he the guy that is being sued?

I think it's actually spelled Baele and the rumor was he used to own a percentage in Heffeners store. They sure acted like they answered to him!

Last I heard he was also the Sales manager to Master.

I have NEVER heard of the ability to cancel the sale of a "Home".  I also just can't see that as being a "spur of the moment" type of sale...  I also don't see anyone buying a home from someone who does not have a "normal place of business"?  Home Buyer talking to the blonde lady operating the Ice Cream truck ..."Oh yea, and throw the $650,000 Home in there along with my splurpy...?"   It does make sense for other things (most large ticket items here in NC) but I have NEVER heard of such a thing for a Home?

Didn't Spaman sell his rights to the name awhile back? Did this person buy the Spaman name from our Spaman?

In home sales is typically siding, windows, carpet, alarm systems or things that you sign an extended finance contract on.

It was instituted to protect elderly from predatory salespeople

Ooops, Sorry about that.  I definitely read that wrong and apologize to everyone here.  Been putting in some pretty long days on the computer and I come to these forums every once in a while to "get away" from the craziness of design work.
